What engines are compatible with the 1st Mate Kit for Mercury SmartCraft Engines?

The 1st Mate kit for Mercury SmartCraft engines is designed to work with most SmartCraft compatible engines.  Below is a list of requirements:

1.  Junction Box - A junction box is generally located at the helm of the boat and the primary connection point for SmartCraft gauges and devices.  An open port is required for the 1st Mate system.
2. 6-Pin Key Switch - Mercury Marine started using a 6-pin key switch in 2005.  The 1st Mate harness is designed to plug into that 6-pin connector.   Note: Side mount remote control boxes with an integrated key switch are not compatible with the 1st Mate system.
3. Close to Stop Lanyard Circuit - The kit only works with "close to stop" Mercury engines.  Mercury outboard engines are all "close to stop" and use 2 wires(black and black/yellow).  Newer MerCruiser engines are all "close to stop." Older MerCruiser engines used "open to stop" lanyard circuits and use 3 wires(black, black/yellow, and purple).
